Up-date, up-date :D

Hey you guys,

So, I know we havent really been posting anything much but thats because we were really busy, but now I have a little time to spare, so I thought I would come here and up-date you all a little bit :).

So after that post, that our Presi, wrote…I realize we never got back here to tell how the community service went, so here goes. I dont know how long or short it will be but Imma just babble away for awhile.

In December, we took our annual trip with Do Good for Father, and we went up to Pai. The first night, we stayed at a military area where we camped out on the soccer field. We set up our tents and got settled in then we visited the near-by temple and then we went to the city to go to the walking street where we ate at a really good mexican restaurant. The owner was super nice. He even offered us…drinks.

The next day, we woke up really early and packed up our tents and got ready to leave. At around 8 am, we piled into the hummy (however you spell it) and left for the village where we would be helping. When we got there, we settled in, and put up our tents. The night came early since it was winter, and it started getting really cold. We needed two blankets+a sleeping bag. The first night up there was the most horrible since we werent used to the place and climate yet. In the morning we woke up early because of cold feet. Literally in that sense. And when we got out of the tent, it was so foggy, you could barely see anything past 1 feet from where we were. That day, we started building the sala that will be used for multi-purpose. That was also the day that our friend, Mickey almost chopped off his finger with a machete while slicing the bark of the wood. We had to take him to the nearest medical clinic available. It was kind of exciting but we all cried, because our friend was hurt. But he ended up fine, and we decided that it tested our friendship…even though we knew him not more than a year, seeing him hurt still hurts us. Then that night, which was the last, was alittle more comfortable. We added 2 more of our friends into our tent, and so it was really cozy.

The environment of the place was muddy, having a river go through it and alot and lot of pig. Oh , and poo.

So yea, thats about our adventure up to Pai, Mae Hong Son to build a multi-purpose sala for the villagers up there.

‘ทำดีเพื่อพ่อ’ Do Good for Our King Year 5

Do Good for Our King Year 5 is a project that has been going on for about 3 weeks now. Right now we are in the process of raising money to help build Salas in a village in the northern province, Mae Hongson. The money also contributes to help buy winter clothes for about 30 children from the village that we are helping. The cold season in Thailand has started very fast this year, especially in Mae Hongson, where in just one night the temperature had dropped 5 degrees. So winter clothes are very important to these children. Every Sunday we go to the walking street to ask for donations and to sell postcards that students from our school (Chiang Mai International School) have created. I’ll post some pictures later on.

Angel Tree

Well you guys! December and Christmas are approaching…and like every year, our school has put up an Angel Tree to help children in need. The Angel Tree has little gift cards stating the child’s gender, age, and a list of items that the kid would want. Then, the gift card is put up on the Christmas tree (Yes, I know quite shocking :p). Recently, our president and one of our vice has been to the tree and took down 4 tags.

They chose 2 boys and 2 girls, age 4 and 6. What we are to buy them are schoolbags and sweaters. The Angel Tree present is due December 4th. The gifts have to be nicely wrapped in pretty paper and all.

It is a great way to do good for someone in need in such a simple way like going shopping (which most females love to do) and then giving them away to someone who will surely appreciate the gift.

Our plan is to go shopping for the gifts at the end of November with a few other members of the team.

So this is an update on what we are doing at the moment and we will keep you posted on what we will be doing next that will help improve the community. :)

Second idea

Hi all

ok so we got a little project that will be featured as a documentary on NBT. We heard about this on the radio and has contacted the people, and they are willing for us to join them! We are over excited and will get more info from them pretty soon.

Right now, what we know is that we are going with them on a survey around October. And then we go up there again in December. The project will be to build a library for the people up in Mae Jam, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

We’ll keep this updated :)
